As the public safety agency for the University community, UAPS works to ensure the safety and security of students, staff and the general public.PositionReporting to the Sergeant, Support Services Division, the Security Program Coordinator is a position responsible for the coordination of the UAPS security program, which includes the compliance with legislation policy and the oversight of employees. The position also assists with the support of various functions, including special duty services, scheduling, record keeping, property and evidence storage, etc.Duties

  • Coordinate UAPS security program, including, scheduling, review of shift reports, licensing and training compliance, and involvement in recruitment.
  • Ensure compliance with UAPS policies and the Security Services and Investigators Act.
  • Work collaboratively with the Support Services Sergeant for the delivery of special duty services.
  • Connect with existing contract clients and provides information to new clients.
  • Assist with evidence and property storage duties.
  • Assist with Support Services Division record keeping.
  • Assist with quartermaster, equipment, vehicle and facility functions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum high school education.
  • Experience with security management or security supervisor.
  • Experience with personnel recruitment and selection.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Security Services and Investigators Act.
  • Well developed organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills/public speaking in small or large groups.
  • Computer proficiency in a Windows based environment, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint), PeopleSoft, Gmail and Google Apps.
  • Willingness to support the core values of the organization.
  • If selected, undergo a criminal record and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a diploma or degree is considered an asset. Security management specific education. Significant security related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Several years of progressive security management or supervision roles.
  • Well-developed client/customer relationship skills.
  • High level of computer proficiency.
