With a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity, SAS provides all academic advising for students over the course of their program; ensures the delivery of accessibility resources on campus; delivers career advising; and supports experiential learning opportunities. SAS works collaboratively and in partnership with the Registrar’s Office and the Dean of Students’ Office for registrarial services, financial aid and awards, and curricular administration and oversight.This position reports to the Assistant Dean Enrolment Management (ADEM) at Augustana Faculty and will undertake work on strategic recruitment and admission processes as well as oversee the recruitment of staff and student volunteers as part of the Campus Visits program. These responsibilities are also guided by the University’s strategic plan supporting Indigenous Initiatives+Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.Working collaboratively with the other members of the SAS leadership team, this position will ensure that processes and initiatives are guided by equity, consistency, and efficiency with an eye to further improvement. Student Academic Services is a collaborative, dynamic and fast paced team and the work of this role requires a high degree of flexibility and adaptability. The Team Lead needs to be effective at prioritizing a fluctuating workload to meet expectations and timelines.Student Academic Services at Augustana and within the University of Alberta is committed to providing inclusive and welcoming support to all students.   • Responsible for staff recruitment, training and ongoing support and supervision
  • Responsible for student staff recruitment, training and ongoing support and supervision
  • Works towards establishing a diverse workforce reflective of the broader community by identifying and working to remove barriers to access.
  • Creates an environment where diverse ideas, perspectives, and achievements are recognized, rewarded and celebrated.
Recruitment:
  • Focus on high impact recruitment activities; and support where necessary depending on staffing levels
  • Support student success and retention by helping future students make informed choices about their educational goals
  • Strategic development and responsibility for an annual recruitment plan to meet enrolment targets as outlined by the Provost’s Office
  • Organizes and oversees the recruitment travel calendar and schedules for all recruitment initiatives
  • Create and update procedures related to recruitment, admissions, and advising
  • Support the development of digital and print recruitment materials (Viewbook, website, social media) and ensure that marketing and promotional materials are accurate and relevant to the future students audience.
  • Work collaboratively with Indigenous Recruitment within the Recruitment Centre of Expertise
Admissions:
  • Serves as the main point of contact with the Office of the Registrar’s Admissions and Records teams for admissions and applicant queries
  • Prepares and presents admissions information and statistics for the Assistant Dean Enrolment Management
  • Supports unsuccessful applicants through additional options
  • Establishes admissions exceptions per cycle with the Assistant Dean Enrolment Management
  • Works in consultation with the Assistant Registrar and the Assistant Dean on transfer credit policies and procedures related to admissions as well as performs transfer assessments.
Advising:
  • Assists admitted students through the course selection process
  • Interprets the University of Alberta academic calendar
  • Refers and connects students to appropriate resources on campus
  • In collaboration with the Team Lead, Advising, provides detailed analysis to the Departments regarding course availability / numbers and advice and recommendations to the Assistant Dean Enrolment Management regarding academic scheduling needs
Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree is required, plus at least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical, research and communication skills are required
  • Experience within a university setting is ideal
  • Student recruitment experience in a post-secondary environment would be an asset
  • Supervision experience an asset
  • Previous experience with equity-deserving groups/Indigenous an asset
