Job Description

TECHNICAL INSTRUCTOR – INDTECH!INDIGENOUS RELATIONS & SUPPORTNorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone dedicated to making a difference to join our Indigenous Relations & Support team as a Technical Instructor for our IndTech! Program.IndTech! is an exciting new program helping to support Indigenous youth aged 18-30 to gain meaningful skills and transition from employability to employment in the technology industry.Reporting to the YESS Indigenous Project Manager, this position contributes to the success of the IndTech! Project by delivering instruction and supporting development of technical skills curricula. Working alongside the IndTech! Instructional Designer, this role is responsible for the delivery of primary skills related to the IndTech! Program including, but not limited to, data management, storage and file management, digital communication, and operation of digital software.HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

  • Prepare and facilitate the delivery of IndTech! classroom materials and other materials as required for online and in-person classrooms.
  • Develop appropriate learning activities and teaching plans for each teaching assignment.
  • Document IndTech! participant attendance, participation, and academic progress and share this information with internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the classroom and related activities to provide an optimum learning environment for participants.
  • Provide individualized and additional support to IndTech participants as required.
  • Provide feedback on curriculum content to Instructional Designer to apply for future cohorts.
  • Identify areas for program improvement, especially for participant experience and workplace preparedness.
WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field (computer sciences, technology, data management, others will be considered), Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Alberta Teaching Certificate would be an asset.
  • Experience instructing in a post-secondary environment, virtual instruction experience would be an asset.

  • Experience teaching and working with Indigenous peoples and communities.
  • Experience delivering culturally responsive pedagogy to meet the learning needs of Indigenous peoples and can work safely and respectfully alongside Indigenous peoples.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as member of team to meet goals and objectives
  • Flexible and willing to assist project with emerging needs within scope such as instructor coverage, supporting additional curriculum development as needed and in discussions with manager, supporting student orientation efforts, etc.
  • Patience and understanding when supporting participants.
  • Professionalism and flexibility required when supporting participants.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office products is required.
SALARY: This is a Faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement outlines how pay is determined. Plus 11.2% in lieu of vacation.
