Job Description

Technical Sales ConsultantThe Technical Sales Consultant also known as a Pre-Sales Engineer/Systems Engineer ensures that the customer can leverage Lexmark products and solutions in their environments, resolve technical challenges, positively influence customer satisfaction, and influence business and sales objectives from a technical perspective.Lexmark has award winning work/life balance flexibility, competitive pay that is benchmarked annually, attractive benefits packages, potential for career growth, and commitment to diversity and inclusion.The Technical Sales Consultant also participates in wide variety of technology opportunities including cloud, IoT, Data Science and Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, virtualization, and others.This is achieved through the following:

  • The Lexmark Technical Sales Consultant is a trusted technical advisor to Lexmark Customers, Customer Focused Sales Teams, and Product Development Communities
  • Recommend the precise Lexmark products to solve customer problems and guide the implementation in their environment. Ensure the best possible customer experience and remove technical obstacles for the Sales Teams to execute our strategy.
  • Translate technical subject matter into a business language that our clients and Sales Teams can easily understand.
  • Developing industry specific knowledge, along with an understanding of Lexmark products and services.
  • Supporting the Sales and Marketing team with pre-sales and solutions development activities as well as contributing to the overall sales strategy
  • Managing post-sales technical issues that have been escalated through Lexmark Technical Support Center
  • Managing and cultivating ongoing customer, Sales Team, and product development relationships
  • Contributing to the advancement of the Technical Sales Consultant role within Lexmark by exhibiting role model behaviors and demonstrating leadership in management and self-initiated projects
Responsibilities:
  • Support the Sales and Marketing team by driving sales opportunities with the customer by eliminating technical obstacles
  • Clearly communicate complex technical ideas to a wide variety of both technical and non-technical business stakeholders
  • Effectively manage customer technical escalations throughout all phases of the sales cycle to resolution
  • Effectively manage a designated territory that will include travel
  • Provide feedback to Product Marketing and Development organizations on the customer experience with Lexmark products and solutions
  • Support of product evaluations in customer environments including installation, configuration, and training
  • This position requires a blend of sales and technical skills
Technical and Business Skills:
  • Working knowledge of multiple server operating systems and environments including Microsoft Windows, Citrix, Apple macOS, UNIX/Linux, AWS, and Azure
  • Basic knowledge of software driver implementation, TCP/IP and other network protocols
  • Problem solving skills and technical writing
  • Results oriented, self-motivated, ability to balance business considerations, meet business deadlines
  • The role requires strong technical, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Industry IT related certifications a plus
