Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Unit Manager for Unit 5E2 plays an integral role in staffing, patient flow and patient and family centered care. This position is located in the Walter Mackenzie Centre on the 5th floor University of Alberta Hospital and consists of general internal medicine patients. The Unit Manager is accountable for the effective management of human as well as fiscal resources and adherence of best practice care standards and quality improvement, in alignment with AHS values. This management team affords developmental, peer and mentorship support for new managers. Please ensure your profile and resume concisely outlines your qualifications, experiences, and interests in this position.Description:The Unit Manager is accountable and responsible for the effective and efficient operation of an assigned unit or patient care area within a specific program including the management of human, material and financial resources. The Unit Manager’s primary role is to support optimum patient care and unit operations through monitoring and organizing the workflow and delivery of patient care in the unit including daily staffing schedules, patient assignment and classification. The functions and responsibilities of the position are executed within the context of the unit goals. The Unit Manager is expected to provide leadership in providing quality patient care.
