Your Opportunity:The University of Alberta Hospital is one of Canada’s leading clinical, research, and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Unit Manager for Unit 5F3 plays an integral role in staff development, patient and family support and patient flow. This position is located one of two Family Medicine Units at the University of Alberta Hospital. The Unit Manager is collaborative with other Unit Managers in Medicine and is part of a dynamic and faced paced environment. The Unit Manager is accountable for the effective management of human as well as fiscal resources and maintenance of Unit best practice standards and quality patient care, in alignment with AHS values. This frontline management position is expected to facilitate professional development of staff and self, through motivation and coaching. Please note that this position, while predominately a day time role requires the incumbent to work On Call four times a year with weekend coverage. The Unit Manager’s primary role is to support optimum patient care and unit operations through monitoring and organizing the workflow and delivery of patient care in the unit including daily staffing schedules, patient assignment and classification. The functions and responsibilities of the position are executed within the context of the unit goals. The Unit Manager is expected to provide leadership in providing quality patient care.
