Job Description

UTILITY OPERATOR / LABOURERGCS General Contracting Services has immediate openings for experienced skilled Utility Operator / Labourer for telecom installation work in the Edmonton area.We offer competitive wages, health and dental benefits, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company matched RRSPs, and free golf at the company owned golf course.Preference will be given to candidates who have prior fibre installation experience or construction labour experience. Preference will also be given to candidates wo have a valid drivers licence, clean abstract and are insurable.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Skid Steer operation;
  • Driving company trucks and trailers to move materials / equipment;
  • Labourer scopes;
  • Installation of fibre;
  • Shoveling and digging;
  • Backfilling;
  • Participate in site safety including pre-job orientations, tailgate meetings, ensure all safety paperwork is accurate and complete;
  • Other drilling / labour tasks as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 2+ years of construction experience;
  • Class 5 licence required;
  • Clean Drivers Abstract (maximum of 3 demerits / minor infractions in the past 3 years);
  • Experience with fibre installation / BDOs / pathways an asset;
  • Vault installing / cable pulling an asset;
  • Hard working
  • Safety conscious
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting +50lbs;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Ability to work in a fast- paced environment with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks.
CERITIFICATIONS:
  • CSTS 2020 (required)
  • Ground Disturbance Level 2 would be an asset
