We work hand in hand with Children Services and our CSD partnership programs to find permanent placements/options that best match each individual child or youth needs. We are STRONG advocates who never settle for anything less than the best for the children and youth in our care. Our core foundation is built on principles as taught in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training.KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintain a supportive comfortable atmosphere, encourage children and youth in their individuality, while complying with the policies and procedures.Attend and participate in shift exchange/ security and safety checksProvide individualized care and support for children and youth ages 2-24.Transport and provide support for children and youth to attend their day programs, appointments, and recreational activitiesSupervise children and youth in daily routines, in accordance with assigned shiftUtilize Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) strategies to diffuse potential behavior escalationsAs required, work and provide staffing support at any GLP site.Evaluate resident’s behavior through daily contact and monthly goal progress notesEnsure log books, reports and documentation is completed timelyAttend staff meetings and any other meetings or training programs as directed by Management.Follow all Agency’s policies, and procedures, code of conduct, shift expectations, and job descriptionsCommunicate with Management any concerns impacting a child or youth’s safety and well-being.Administer medications to residents as required.Assist with intake& welcoming the child or youth into GLP.Maintain a healthy environment by performing a variety of cleaning and housekeeping duties as requiredMaintain an inventory of supplies, food, and personal hygiene products, and weekly shopping lists.Perform related duties as outlined in the job descriptionQualifications:Education:Diploma or Degree in a related field. A combination of related education and experience will also be considered.Skills, Abilities and Attitudes:Ability to work in a highly stressful and ever-changing environmentMust have excellent boundariesMental resiliency is keyKnowledge of standard policies and practices related to group care and the ability to effectively implement daily operations as per shift requirements.Formal training in TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention),Suicide Intervention, Aboriginal Awareness and Cultural Diversity, Standard First Aid and Level C- CPR Note: the agency does provide for all training if needed. Exception: Agency does not provide/reimburse costs for initial First Aid training.Flexible and adaptable to change.Demonstrated conflict management skills.Must possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s license and provide a drivers abstract( 3 years history).Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Police check and Intervention Record check.Experience:Minimum 1-year direct experience working in a group home with children or youthExperience working in a team environmentDemonstrated ability to make sound decisionsProven ability to multitaskStrong de-escalation skillsKnowledge of the Child, Youth, and Family Enhancement ActKnowledge of the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate and their roleExperience in completing reports – both handwritten and electronic versions (SharePoint) is required SharePoint training is provided by the agencyProven ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced, ever changing, and demanding work environmentTo Apply:Please email cover letter and resume to careers@boylestreet.org.
