Job Description

Backwoods Energy Services is 100% Indigenous-owned and provides construction services to the oil, gas, and utility industries in north-western Alberta. Our business consists of five operating divisions: Civil Works and Clearing, Environmental Services, Pipeline and Integrity Maintenance, Matting Supply and Installation and Security Services. Our mission is to drive economic opportunity by empowering Indigenous people and communities.Role SummaryAs the Industrial Janitor you will follow Sanitation Standard Operational Practices (SSOP) related to sanitation and cleaning of the internal and external site, and assist operations in maintaining the building, processing, and welfare areas, keeping them clean and organized. Most of the work will be done outdoors, with some indoor duties. In this role you will report to the Field Supervisor, Security.Responsibilities

  • Clean restrooms, locker rooms, break room, and offices
  • Refill soap and hand towels in the bathrooms, break rooms, and handwashing stations
  • Clean and maintain building floor surfaces, including but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, damp mopping, floor scrubber machine
  • Dusting and ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment unsupervised
  • Collection and disposal of garbage, recycling, and waste materials throughout the facility
  • Monitor and report facility issues requiring repairs
  • Report supply requisition needs to managers
  • Maintain a safe, neat, and clean work area environment in accordance with site specifications
  • Other janitorial duties as assigned
  • Additional and alternative duties that may be changed from time-to-time by the Employer
Qualifications
  • Able to stand for long periods of time while executing tasks quickly and accurately
  • Able to work in a physically demanding fast-paced environment
  • Able to tolerate exposure to high levels of heat and cold
  • Able to twist and bend repeatedly for long periods of time
  • Able to pull, push, move, and lift to waist level and carry awkward and shifting weights up to 50 pounds
  • One year of industrial experience and custodial experience preferred
  • Customer Service Orientation - Satisfying customers
  • Adaptability - Willingness to deal with unexpected challenges or circumstances
  • Problem Solving - Define problems and bring about viable solutions
  • Servicing the Customer - Readily initiate actions to meet or exceed the needs of the customer
  • Strong work ethic
