Job Type: Full Time, PermanentStart Date: As soon as possibleLanguage: EnglishMinimum Education: High SchoolPositions Available: 2NOC Group: Aquaculture Operators and Managers (8257)NOC Job Title: Fish Hatchery OperatorExpires in 13 daysExpires: 2021-06-21Posted: 2021-06-08Last Updated: 2021-06-08Job Location(s)Egmont, British ColumbiaJob DescriptionParadise Trading Corporation is currently looking to fill the role of a Freshwater Hatchery Technician to our team located at Hotham Hatchery (located up Jervis Inlet between Pender Harbor and Powell River).This position is responsible for general hatchery husbandry operations, water quality monitoring, mortality removals and various site related activities. This position is also to assist with vaccination season, mainly anaesthetizing, brailing and transferring fish. The successful candidate will be physically fit in order to assist with high-volume vaccinations.Application Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience with salmon hatchery operations would be an asset
  • Physically fit with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work as a team member in a camp environment
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Proactive attitude to foresee and solve problems and ability to work as a team member
  • Aquaculture Technician Certificate or Aquaculture Technician Diploma would be an asset but not required
This full-time, camp-based position has a shift schedule of 7 days on, 7 days off.Special Requirements:
  • Prerequisite to hiring are reference checks.
