Job Title: Yard Person Job Category: Service Position Status: TEMPORARY Full-time Location: Elie, MBJoin AgWest as a Yard Person and be a key part of our service team. This position involves maintaining the daily operation of yard inventory and performing essential shipping and receiving functions. As the ideal candidate, you’ll be a proactive problem solver, a team player, and committed to supporting both internal and external customers. Sounds like youIn the role of Yard Person at AgWest, you’ll ensure smooth yard operations, including inventory control, equipment maintenance, and coordinating shipments. Your responsibilities will involve working with a variety of agricultural equipment, managing documentation, and maintaining yard security. Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold safe and environmentally responsible work practices aligned with our health and safety policies.
  • Assist branch staff with inventory control, including daily yard inventory counts and updates on shipped and received equipment.
  • Coordinate multi-divisional shipping, receiving, and communicate repairs with the service department.
  • Load and unload equipment using safe standards and according to transport regulations.
  • Prepare new units for customer delivery, ensuring they are in safe and good working condition.
  • Provide digital pictures and documentation for all equipment entering and leaving the yard.
  • Maintain yard security and monitor the after-hours yard cell phone.
  • Assist with minor repairs to the building, snow removal, and general shop and warehouse tasks as required.
Must-Haves:
  • High school education and relevant experience operating various types of agricultural equipment.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude or experience with agricultural equipment.
  • Knowledge of transport regulations is a definite asset.
  • A customer-centric, self-starter with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Service-oriented team player with strong business acumen.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications and/or inventory systems.
  • Knowledge of competitors’ equipment is an asset.
