Company OverviewBackwoods Security Services Ltd. is an Alberta Based security and protective services provider owned by the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation. We are part of the larger family of Backwoods Energy Services which prides itself in its ability to execute on projects in a safe, cost effective and timely manner. This culture is the basis on which our security company has been built, and is reinforced by our Security Management Team, which consists of senior professionals who have managed security requirements for major projects and organizations throughout Alberta. With our access to highly experienced Indigenous security guards, Backwoods Security offers top-tier security execution while creating a positive socio-economic impact within Indigenous communities. Role SummaryWe are looking for a reliable Security Dispatcher to work from the Edmonton office coordinating our field security team to keep operations fully staffed and meet client contractual requirements. Acting as a communication point for all hourly employee check-ins, this role will entail frequent problem solving as the central point of contact for our Security Guards.The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator with high attention to detail who thrives in a fast-paced environment able to adapt to frequent interruptions and shifting priorities. The goal in this position is to ensure all employees are scheduled appropriately and we are meeting client needs.Responsibilities

  • Continuously audit and verify coverage of schedule
  • Provide command, communications and control functions for the security staff deployed in the field
  • Receive client requests and schedule shifts for guards as necessary
  • Provide field staff with accurate schedules on a weekly basis
  • Handle dispatch of emergency alarm calls
  • Maintain attendance/absenteeism reports and communicate any recurrent absenteeism to the Security Operations Coordinator
  • Monitor computer systems for access controlamp; CCTV
  • Book all accommodation requirements, focusing on efficiency of schedule and cost;
  • Monitor scheduling software (Celayix) to ensure Security Guards are scheduled appropriately in a manner that matches our Hours of Work Agreement
  • Ensure all communications to guards and customers are clear, concise and completed in a professional and timely manner
  • Proactively address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing resolutions
  • Manageamp; track company assets distributed to employees
  • Utilizing a variety of company software programs efficiently and correctly to perform assignments, manage assets, update and log changes
  • Other duties as assigned by the company from time to time.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years proven experience in staff dispatching, scheduling or relevant position
  • ABST training/AB Security Guard License
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is essential
  • Experience with Celayixamp; Track Tik an asset
  • Full availability including days, afternoons, nights, weekendsamp; statutory holidays
  • Ability to travel to remote locations to conduct site visits – 10-20% travel required
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high stress, deadline driven, ever-changing work environment while prioritizing tasks and assignments
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain organized workflow
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional data entry skill and typing speed
  • Sound judgement and critical thinking skill set
