About us: North Shore Community Support Services (NSCSS) is a non-profit charitable organization that has been providing quality Mental Health supports and services in the East Algoma area for over 33 years.Our Vision: People are equal and full participants in the community of their choice.Who are we looking forWe are currently looking for a permanent full-time MHW to work in our Elliot Lake psycho-social rehabilitation program (Club 90) supporting adults with mental illness.The Mental Health Worker will provide supports to adults with mental illness, following psycho-social principles and practice.This position is responsible for providing rehabilitation focused supports that promote individual wellness, independence, community inclusion and social participation.Skills required include: Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation theory and practice principles; Strong group work facilitation skills – must be able to engage participants in active planning processes/assessments geared at promoting their holistic well-being; ability to develop relationships based on trust and mutual respect; assessment of client needs using various assessment tools; offering support for assigned clients, taking into account strengths identified during assessments; adhering to standards set out by NSCSS policies and program procedures; able to develop individual support plans that identify expected outcomes regarding identified goals, objectives and strategies.The successful candidate will have: an undergraduate degree/diploma and 3 years related experience working with people who have serious and persistent mental illness OR an Ontario Certificate of Qualification as an MHW or equivalent training and experience.Fluent oral communication abilities in English is required.
