Job Description

Travel Manitoba is a Crown Corporation responsible for stimulating innovative, sustainable tourism growth inManitoba’s $1.6 billion tourism industry. In partnership with the tourism industry, Travel Manitoba is responsible for tourism marketing, destination management, visitor information services, research and public information. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team.Travel Counsellor – Destination Management Division – Emerson, Manitoba Responsible for providing travel counselling and trip planning assistance by phone, on-line, and in-person.Ensures that content on Travel Manitoba’s website is accurate for tourism stakeholders. Works with event organizers to post and promote their events, through Travel Manitoba’s online calendar. Works to keep TravelManitoba’s CRM up to date. Supports administration of the Master Angler and Master Hunter Programs as needed. Off season months include significant administrative work including data entry and outreach to industry to update records. Assists with other projects/duties as assigned. Must be able to work flexible hours including statutory holidays and weekend. Over the fall, winter and summer, this position works Thursday throughMonday.Responsibilities:

  • Provides travel counselling and trip planning assistance (face to face, by phone and on-line) to visitors, with an aim to increase frequency and duration of stay.
  • Records all inquiries into databases for historical data and for fulfilment processing.
  • Supports administration of the Master Angler and Master Hunter Programs.
  • Assists with data entry and updating the CRM.
  • Provides assistance in the training and instruction of new Travel Counsellors.
  • Creates staff schedule for Emerson centre during the summer months and takes the lead on backfilling shifts when needed.
  • Answers the visitor centre’s general phone line
  • Provides administrative/clerical support as necessary.
  • Projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Works with Central Services in the day to day operation of the Visitor Centre, ensuring building and ground cleanliness and safety standards are met.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 or GED equivalency
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised
  • Strong time management skills and proven ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge/experience with MS Office Suite
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong administrative/clerical skills
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and statutory holidays
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
  • Valid current Manitoba driver’s license
