Job Description

Requirements:

  • current Food Safe Certification
  • experience cooking for 50 - 80 people
  • experience providing diets for children with food allergies and special diets
  • Secondary School or Community / Vocational College.
  • Level 1 First Aid an asset.
  • ability to plan a two week menu with input from the board and develop a grocery order
  • must consent to a Criminal Record Check
The Head Cook is responsible for and oversees all aspects of kitchen management, food preparation, food ordering, and possible menu planning at a summer camp located on Mabel Lake, BC, by the Shuswap River. This includes developing a nutritious, well-balanced menu, making efficient use of resources, staying within the allocated budget, and providing excellent service to all campers, staff, volunteers and visitors at camp. The Head Cook’s duties include daily communication and feedback with the Camp Director and conversations as needed with the Board Liaison (re: purchase of supplies) to ensure the kitchen’s smooth integration into the overall camp program. In 2021, responsibilities also include the observance of all aspects of the camps COVID-19 Safety Plan that relate to food service.Note: staff receive free room and board on-site while camp is in session, July 1-August 15, 2021.MacKenzie Camp is owned by the United Church of Canada. The camp is a drug free environment. All staff are to be healthy role models for campers. No addictive substances, illegal drugs, tobacco, or marijuana are allowed on site.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $950.00 per weekBenefits:
