POSITION QUALIFICATIONS ARE:Minimum Personal Support Worker Certificate, Health Care Aide Certificate or equivalentExperience in a setting for people who have physical and/or developmental disabilityObtain and maintain First-Aid Certification, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and WHMIS training within six monthsGood interpersonal skillsGood written and verbal communication skillsBondableValid driver’s license and a good driving recordBilingualism an asset, essential where necessaryORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:Understand and promote the Agency’s Goals and ObjectivesUnderstand and adhere to all policies and procedures of the Agency and the ProgramUnderstand and adhere to all governing Federal, Provincial and Municipal Legislative Actspresent a positive public image of the AgencyEnsure and provide quality servicesParticipate as a team memberAdhere to availability call-in proceduresParticipate and promote team approach to ensure quality of client service through the Person Centered Plan processPromote community inclusion and concept of normalizationEnsure client dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all timesSERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:Client ServiceAdhere to all Medication ProceduresParticipate in development and provide follow through of Individual Service Plan (ISP) and Person Centered Plan (PCP)Responsible for awareness of medical side effects and medical conditions relating to clients in residenceProvide safe and responsible supervision of all clientsProvide a positive role modelCoach and counsel clients to enhance their personal health, fitness and well-beingAssist clients in planning and participating in community leisure activitiesAssist individual clients with their personal hygiene and appearance, as neededEnsure clients’ physical and emotional needs are recognized and addressedAssist clients to maintain a safe, clean environmentAssist clients in completing and maintaining day to day maintenance chores and promote awareness of Health and SafetyMaintain communications with other Agency staff regarding the clients, as necessaryProvide transportation of clients in Agency vehicles, as requiredADMINISTRATIVE DUTIESComplete administrative duties, as requiredComplete daily program and client logs, where applicableAssist in the reduction of waste and recommend purchase of new materialsRecord medical information in accordance with medical proceduresEnsure security; opening and closing of locations, as designatedObtain approval for purchases from Manager or designate and record finances appropriatelyAdvise management of training needs and request appropriate training programsLiaise with family members, where applicableAttend all necessary meetingsHEALTH AND SAFETY DUTIESObserve and reinforce Health and Safety Programs in the workplace; deal with accidents, hazards and incidents; administer first-aid and provide documentation as per the Act and Agency ProceduresParticipate with ongoing Health and Safety ProgramsComplete daily and monthly safety checks, where applicableMaintain sound knowledge of and follow the Emergency Procedurescomplete vehicle circle check and ensure safe and lawful operation of Agency vehiclesAbide by the Agency’s Non-Smoking Policy**This Job Description reflects the general nature and scope of the job and is not intended to be all inclusive**Quick Apply
