Addiction and Mental Health Worker, Community Wellness - ExeterDirect Service - (OPSEU)Full-Time, Permanent (Benefitted)Exeter, Ontario (South Huron Zone)- Application Deadline: March 14, 2024-In this role, you will demonstrate psychosocial rehabilitation principles and practices to maximize the recovery of our clients. Utilizing both group and one to one approaches, the focus of services will be on creating opportunities that empower acquiring skills and resources necessary to enable meaningful involvement in community leisure, recreation and social pursuits.This will include duties and responsibilities specific to our Community Wellness Programs both at Exeter Site and various community locations.Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. WHAT WE #39;RE OFFERING:

  • What you #39;ll be making - Starting rate for this role is $26.48 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ($29.28 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated):
    • Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
    • Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($33.56 per hour for non-regulated, and $36.35 per hour for regulated)
    • For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
  • When you #39;ll work – 70 hours over a two-week period; Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
  • What your benefits will be - After a 90-day waiting period, will be enrolled in the healthcare benefits plan
  • Your pension plan - Immediately enrolled in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
  • Conduct individualized assessments to determine need and suitability for Community Wellness Programs
  • Develop, plan, implement, facilitate and evaluate Community Wellness groups in collaboration with the Community Wellness team, other staff, volunteers, participants, peers and/or community partners
  • Be familiar with the roles which are provided through the service, including Transitional Case Manager, Information and Brief Support and Crisis Management, housing supports, shelter supports, Harm Reduction, to support staff as necessary and support participants when needed
  • Provide, facilitate and model an atmosphere of mutual caring and trust among persons participating in the activity program by building relationships with participants and responding to their individual needs
  • Monitor, assess and provide feedback regarding individual progress both to the participant and internal and external members of the participants’ support team, to assist the participant in achieving their goals
  • Explore and promote participant-led activities by identifying and supporting participants to assume leadership roles
  • Identify opportunities and partnerships that contribute to the community integration and recovery of participants; contribute to the development of program proposals to support these initiatives
  • Provide periodic supervision and mentoring to placement students and volunteers
  • Provide transportation to participants as required to facilitate participation in Community Wellness programs
  • As directed, represent the organization and Community Wellness on internal committees
  • Identify, assess and effectively respond to any emergency situations concerning person(s) or property, as per CMHA TVAMHS program procedures
  • Ensure important information is communicated to all relevant stakeholders and documented in the record
  • Complete required documentation as per CMHA TVAMHS standards
  • Attend and actively participate in staff and group meetings
  • Coordinate work, as needed, with other staff, community providers and family
  • Act as a resource to other staff
  • Seek out and listen to input from other staff
  • Provide support and encouragement to other staff as needed, (e.g., assistance with challenging participants, coverage for vacation, sick time)
  • Contribute to a positive team environment
WHAT YOU #39;LL NEED TO APPLY:Police Vulnerable Sector Check RequirementsSuccessful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Candidates who require letter in order to apply for Police Check would receive a request letter following the interview stage.Required Qualifications:
  • College or university credentials in Social Services, Mental Health, Therapeutic Recreation and/or a related field (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma or official transcript)
  • Valid driver #39;s license and access to a vehicle to carry out job duties
  • Adequate vehicle insurance to carry out job duties
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in the mental health or vocational rehabilitation field
  • Good working knowledge of computer office technology such as word-processing, spreadsheets, database records, internet and email resources, etc. and ability to perform basic financial and documentation requirements related to activities and programs
  • Knowledge of mental illness and its impact on clients
  • Excellent knowledge of community resources in the service region for Huron County
  • Current First Aid and CPR
