Job Description

Position Title: Cold Storage Forklift OperPosition Type: Regular - Full-TimePosition Location: Florenceville MainRequisition ID: 16611DATE: May 13, 2021JOB TITLE: Forklift Operator Full Time PermanentDEPARTMENT: DistributionMcCain Foods (Canada) – Florenceville Distribution Center is currently looking for a Forklift Operator to join our team, more than one candidate may be selected.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive in a defensive manner under “Shock Watch” guidelines, preventing injury and product/equipment damage
  • Responsible for housekeeping and maintaining 5S within your work area
  • Responsible to ensure forklift battery rotation is followed
  • Communicate any changes, issues, etc. to other operators and supervision
  • Must maintain all required documentation and check sheets
  • Ensure targets are met by following Standard work, understanding and supporting departmental KPI’s
  • Must follow “Good Manufacturing Practices” (GMP’s)
  • Complete vehicle operator’s checklist for lift truck to ensure lift truck is safe to operate
  • Required to operate various types of lift trucks, including stand up reach trucks throughout the warehouse
  • Must be able to work varying shifts and weekends as the workload demands.
  • Knowledge of WMS and experience operating forklifts would be an asset
  • Must be self-motivated, observant with good initiative and a positive attitude
  • Must be willing and able to assume different tasks at any time with minimal notice
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and get along well with others
  • Must be willing to cross-train in order department areas
  • Perform all other duties/tasks as assigned by foreman/supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, a forklift operators’ certificate for both counterbalance and reach trucks
  • Able to work shift work; nights and weekends
  • Knowledge of lift trucks and proper driving procedures
  • Ability to lift, approximately 20 kgs
  • A good attendance record is required
  • Good written, oral and math skills are important
  • Must attend team meetings as required
Applicants must possess a good safety record and continually demonstrate “safety first.” Selection of employees for promotion is based upon such factors as ability, special training, experience, prior PEP Ratings, attendance, ability to meet the physical demands of the position, education, length of service, and involvement in additional assignments. Length of service will be the determining factor when all other factors are relatively equal. Testing may be required depending on the position applied for. Interviews will be held as necessary and those selected for an interview are determined based on meeting the criteria as noted above. An evaluation period will be used to determine the candidate’s suitability for the position.
