Job Description

Position Title: Farm OperatorPosition Type: Temporary - Full-TimePosition Location: Florenceville MainRequisition ID: 14522Job Title: Seasonal Farm OperatorDepartment: Global AgricultureReports To: Manager, Farm of the FutureLocation: Florenceville, New BrunswickJob grade: Grade 4Grade range: $18.55– 20.35 per hourJob type: Seasonal (April to October)QUALIFICATIONS:Grade 12, GED, or equivalent experience; preference will be given to a candidate who has post-secondary education in agricultural studies

  • Experience with operating farm equipment during planting, and harvesting is an asset
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate professional behavior, work well under pressure and have an ability to respond to unexpected circumstances calmly and responsibly
  • Ability to lift approximately 25-30 lbs and at time in excess of 50lbs
  • Ability to accept and embrace change in the day to day operations
  • Successful completion of 90 day training period
  • Must obtain Pesticide Applicator’s License as soon as possible
  • Experience with planting and management of potatoes and rotation crops is an asset
  • Experience with Farm Live Stock Management is an asset
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license to operate heavy equipment
DUTIES:
  • Operate farm equipment during crop season – planting, harvesting, spraying, seed cutting, transportation, storage management, etc.
  • Clean and monitor equipment, report any problems to the Agronomist
  • Responsible for cutting seed, and overall building and yard maintenance
  • Apply pesticides as required
  • Ensure targets are met by understanding and goal setting of KPI’s
  • General housekeeping duties within the work area
  • Collect petiole and other samples as assigned
  • Foster and promote a safe work environment
  • Livestock and drip irrigation management
  • Other duties as assigned
  • This position is primarily Monday through Friday, during growing season, and possibly into December. Employee will be laid off during off-season as required.
  • Must be able to work extended hours during the Spring and Fall season
