Be a part of our family.McCain Foods is seeking a Manager for Valley Farms Ltd. in Florenceville, NB!Valley Farms Ltd. is a profit centre of McCain Foods Ltd. Valley Farms produces potatoes on 5,400 ac/2,185 ha of land on a three-year crop rotation. The annual potato crop (1,800 ac/728 ha per year) is grown and managed by Valley Farms. The remaining rotation land is leased to local growers to produce their rotation crops. All harvested potatoes are delivered to the factory.The Manager, Valley Farms is responsible to provide direction and leadership for the transformation of Valley Farms into a state-of-the-art Processing Farm by implementing new operational and agronomy practices through cutting edge technologies for growing, monitoring crop development and crop production all while increasing raw quality, productivity and achieving yearly budgeted targets. Key focus areas: Safety, People Capabilities, Grower Relationships, Sustainability/Re-generative Ag. Practices, Drive Payable Yield, Machinery & Equipment, Precision Agriculture, Remote sensing, Variable rate Technology and Storage Best Practices.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Continue to build and enhance the strong safety culture at Valley Farms through awareness and development opportunities.
• Build team people capabilities into leveraging a more strategic/growth mindset through coaching and career development.
• Execute the action plan for growth, set objectives and goals for team and communicate clearly expectations.
• Lead productivity improvement initiatives for increased efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Execute and maintain 18-month operational budget/forecast.
• Execute and maintain 5-year Capital Equipment Expenditures. Ensure this is aligned with McCain’s Smart & Sustainable Vision.
• Strengthen grower relationships through outreach and knowledge transfer.
• Maintain and build a strong alliance with McCain, Academia and Industry Professionals.
• Execute VF’s journey from conventional Ag. Practices to 100% re-generative Ag. Practices by 2030.
• Execute the whole seed/minimally cut seed strategy for VF.
• Oversee all operational and agronomic practices in all aspects of planning, execution and monitoring of farms crops.
• Responsible for payable yield and quality improvements through new variety implantation, extensive experimentation, technology adaptation and monitoring of field and storage practices.
• Responsible to execute on-farm research trials, prepare written reports and oral presentations to Senior Management Group.

Summary of Qualifications:

• BS degree in Agriculture or related field preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in Agriculture managing a diverse team.
• Proven resiliency and collaboration in the face of challenging circumstances.
• Displays accountability with a focus on delivering results aligned with strategic objectives.
• Self-starter, good interpersonal and presentation skills (talking, writing, reasoning).
• Strong analytical, interpersonal and computer skills
• Willingness to learn and utilize McCain systems.
• Flexible work hours during certain seasons (planting & harvesting)
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
• Valid driver’s license required. Class 3 preferred
• Willingness to obtain a provincial pesticide applicators license

Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and telephone keyboard and talk or hear.
• Requires visual acuity to focus on desktop and/or laptop computer screen.
• Requires standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time, talking and listening.
• Work demands may fluctuate seasonally related to farming cycles, especially during planting and harvesting.
