Job Description

Position Title: Network Administrator IIPosition Type: Regular - Full-TimePosition Location: Florenceville GTC OR Toronto HQGrade: Grade 04Requisition ID: 15113JOB PURPOSE:Reporting to the IS Manager/Director, the Network Administrator II is responsible for conducting support operations and major project work in the data communications technical space at McCain Foods. The Network Administrator II will also provide feedback into technical elements of tactical and strategic direction in the data communications space. They must on a regular basis interface with clients, vendors and peers across the globe. They represent the highest technical escalation point for data communication within the company and play a pivotal support role to coordinating responses to major service issues that cannot be resolved by front line technical resources.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
  • Influencing and consensus building skills are key to the success of this position.
  • This position will be required to conduct formal presentations on a regular basis so these type of presentation/public speaking skills are necessary.
  • Tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive requests is required (HR, Audit, Legal).
  • Leadership skills are required when leading a response to a critical outage situation.
  • Technical interpretation of current technical state and applying toward a path forward/tactical direction for Management is required.
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary.
KEY QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES:
  • Minimum four years of experience in an enterprise network environment upon entry. This includes configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, problem resolution and management of network switches, routers, firewalls.
  • Experience with VPN, SD-WAN, DNA and SDA technologies.
  • It is expected that within 6 months of date of hiring that a person should reach full competence in this role based on this past experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • CCNA, CCNP certification a plus.
OTHER INFORMATION
  • This position has a high degree of freedom when responding to support issues. Given the nature of troubleshooting personal judgment is key to their success and to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborative decision making is also necessary when addressing work orders for projects as this often requires a high degree of interactivity with clients, vendors and/or peers.
  • A Network Administrator II is also responsible for coordinating team response to a major outage issue so leadership decision making for the group is sometimes called upon.
