Job Description

The Manager, Financial Reporting and Taxation has direct leadership and responsibility of all financial reporting functions of the Company. He/she performs direct and/or indirect supervision of all financial and accounting staff and prepares all formal internal and external financial statements as well as formulating and recommending appropriate accounting policy.Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Preparation of annual audited financial statements
  • Preparation of Annual Report for shareholder and regulatory authorities
  • Preparation of unaudited Quarterly Reports for shareholder and regulatory authorities
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements for management and internal purposes
  • Interfacing with tax preparation companies and completing U.S. and Canadian tax returns for all Companies in the consolidated group
  • Interfacing with taxation authorities
  • Formulating the appropriate Corporate accounting policies and ensuring they are applied in conformance with IFRS
  • Staying abreast of all current accounting pronouncements and incorporating them into the Company’s policies where applicable
  • Interfacing with both the external auditors and the audit committee
  • Preparation of annual operating budgets and analysis of results against budget
  • Analyzing corporate financing needs and recommending solutions to senior management
  • Special projects as requested
  • Assisting other Corporate departments
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, or a related discipline
  • Professional Accounting designation (CPA CA)
  • Membership in good standing with a Professional accounting body
  • 5 - 10 or more years of related experience with progressive responsibility
  • Supervisory experience is required
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to use a computerized accounting system, with skills in word processing, spreadsheets, database software and accounting software
  • Respect for confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team, and get along with other people
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
