Job Description

Announcer and Program Coordinator Community Service DepartmentABOUT THE ROLEFort McKay First Nation is seeking a motivated and organized individual with a talent and passion for delivering on-air content to fill the position of Announcer and Program Coordinator. The incumbent will be responsible for managing and presenting on-air content, coordinating program schedules, and ensuring the smooth operation of the station #39;s programming.This is a full-time, permanent position reporting directly to the Station Music and Production Manager. This position may require the need to work outside of regular working hours occasionally. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Host live radio shows with daily on-air shifts and presentations.
  • Adhere to station guidelines and policies while maintaining a professional entertaining on-air presence.
  • Conduct daily voice-tracking shifts.
  • Provide and announce daily local news, sports, and weather updates.
  • Create and prepare content for on-air broadcasting, including voice track programming and scripting.
  • Upload weekly programming.
  • Write, develop, and produce commercials (minimum of 7, weekly)
  • Record the “Community” segment and other on-air products.
  • Report and liaise with the Radio Station Consultant on operational tasks including programming projects, station imaging, and music programming.
  • Community remotes.
  • Liaise with Youth and Community on-air announcers.
  • Represent the station at community events, promotions, and remote broadcasts.
  • Foster positive relationships with listeners, sponsors, and local organizations to enhance the station’s community presence.
  • Minimal travel is required.
  • All other duties as assigned.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • High school Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of courses or workshops specifically focused on radio production, broadcasting techniques, and on-air presentation.
  • Previous on-air experience as a radio host or announcer is an asset.
  • Experience in program coordination or scheduling, preferably in a radio or broadcasting setting.
  • Proficiency in the operation of radio broadcasting equipment.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • A valid Class Five (5) driver’s licence is an asset.
  • Experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset.
