Vice Principal Education DepartmentCome Join our Team for the 2024-2025 School Year!ABOUT THE ROLEWe are looking for a dynamic and passionate Vice Principal who loves Northern Living to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year! The Vice Principal will motivate and inspire staff and students to high levels of achievement while maintaining an orderly and inclusive school environment. This is a full-time salaried position based on seventy-five (75) hours bi-weekly, located in Fort McKay, AB.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand and supports the Education Authority strategic plan
  • Leads school staff towards the goal of providing a strong Cree Language, Dene Language, Land-Based Learning and Academic Program with a focus on literacy and numeracy
  • Strong FNMI understanding and knowledge in Indigenous culture
  • Work as both a leader and a member of a team in a collaborative work environment.
  • Support diversity and has experiences with diverse cultural groups
  • Build collective capacity at the school and in the Education Authority
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the District Instructional Framework
  • Lead innovation and change in his/her assignment
  • Participate in community affairs in order to enhance and support the Elsie Fabian School.
  • Provide a safe and caring environment that fosters well-being and maintains respectful and responsible behavior for each student.
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education is required, Masters or doctorate level preferred
  • Five (5) years teaching experience combined with five (5) years of Administration and/or Management experience
  • Certified Teacher and Administrator
  • Holds or working towards obtaining the leadership certification as required by the Leadership Quality Standard.
  • Has demonstrated effective instructional and leadership skills
  • Demonstrates evidence of student-centered philosophy.
  • Possesses Special Education knowledge and understanding of best practice.
  • Possesses strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Possesses a strong understanding of technology programs
  • Extensive experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is an asset
  • Ability to speak, read and write Cree and/or Dene considered an asset
  • Clean Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector required
  • Valid class 5 Driver’s Licenseamp; Clean Driver’s Abstract required
  • Successful candidate will be required to live in (or relocate to) Fort McMurray, Alberta
