Job Description

We are seeking a Field Telematics Technician to support our Maintenance team by providing field support to install, troubleshoot and maintain the hardware required to run this telematics system. The technician will support NACG #39;s telematics implementation project by planning, documenting and completing radio and datalogger installs on rigid-frame haul trucks, hydraulic mining shovels, graders, dozers and support equipment in the field. The technician will work closely with the CBM project lead and telematics implementation coordinator to performquot;factory quality quot; telematics system installs across the fleet.This position is located in Fort McMurray. Repair modem/antenna issues and implement connectivity improvement projects as required.- Maintain a stock of repair parts, with support from NACG warehouse and parts techsAssist with Install Planning and Documentation- Provide detailed install notes with pictures to NACG back-office staff.- Support the development of install procedures with pictures, notes and mounting/routing locations to the project lead- Provide feedback and suggestions to the project lead, dealer and OEM to continuously improve install plansAssist with Maintenance of NACG #39;s Existing RF Systems- Assist NACG IT with repairs to on-site RF equipment as required- Troubleshoot 2-way radios and make repairs as necessaryWhat Makes You the ONE- 2 years of field experience with sensor networks, datalogging devices or heavy equipment maintenance- RF install, repair and troubleshooting experience is considered an asset- Telematics or radio equipment install experience is considered an asset- Instrumentation Technician, RF Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician Preferred, but equivalent experience would be considered- Candidates who are new to this field are also encouraged to apply- CANBUS, Instrumentation and RF training is considered an asset- Training on Caterpillar product link device installation and troubleshooting is considered an asset- Experience with documentation of work processes- Experience working on various sites and managing proper training, permits and certification requirements.- Experience working in a green field operation and adapting to the surroundings.- Experience in the Heavy Constructionamp; Mining industry is considered an asset.- Equipment operation or maintenance experience is considered an asset.- Heavy equipment remote reporting system (VIMS, VisionLink, JDLink, ZXLink, GolbalE, Komtrax, Komatsu VHMS, etc.) experience is an asset.- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.- Excellent computer skills with ability to troubleshoot and configure telematics setup softwares.
