Our team is dedicated to providing clients with effective business and technical solutions through exceptional levels of service, innovation and flexibility.TWD is currently seeking a Materials Engineer to support our headquarters in Fort McMurray, AB as an Independent Contractor.Our Client is seeking an experienced and driven Materials Engineer. The incumbent will utilize their sound technical skills to provide technical support to operations, maintenance and shutdown organizations, and prepare high quality design packages, as required.Key Accountabilities- Provide Material engineering support to Base Plant Mine, Extractionamp; Tailings.- Provide material selection for new and existing equipment.- Provide materials/welding support for projects (BUP and Major), maintenance and repair.- Provide support to equipment strategy.- Provide support and/or conduct failure analysis investigation.- Provide corrosion/cracking and erosion assessments.- Provide corrosion and erosion controlamp; mitigations recommendations.Qualifications- Support for day-to-day operations, long term reliability and turnarounds.- Support T/A and Outage preparation of activities- Support Reliability Engineering investigation into piping, static and rotating equipment failure incidents and reports of degradation. Providing recommendations to ensure accurate inspection results and adequate corrective actions.- Reviews equipment WPS and heat treatment procedures qualified by Suncor Oil Sands and those submitted by contractors- Support the development of equipment strategies for static and rotating equipment, which include: materials degradation mode, mitigation strategies, condition monitoring program (CML selection, assessment, etc.), suitable repair/fabrication processes, IOWs, and Asset life cycle.- Participate in risk assessments, failure analysis investigations and recommend short term solutions and long term plans for mitigation.- Participate in corrosion hazard assessments.Work LocationThis is a Fort McMurray based position.We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for everyone.
