Job Description

Birch Mountain Enterprises (BME) is hiring a permanent, full-time experienced Site Manager immediately for our operations at Kearl Lake site.Company Background: Established in 2005, Birch Mountain Enterprises is an equal opportunity employer with over 350 employees throughout the Fort McMurray region. Operating from its main operations in Fort McKay, BME provides vac, water, waste, fuel, and flat bed hauling services to industrial and commercial customers. Job Summary:Reporting to the Executive Director of Operations and operating from Kearl site, the Site Manager is responsible for the overall direction of on-site activities to meet the requirements of our customers while ensuring profitability and revenue targets are achieved from reporting areas through customer growth and resource productivity utilization.The individual in this position must be able to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Schedule of 14 on, 14 off, with accommodations provided as well as flights to and from site to Edmonton or Calgary.Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee daily business operations.
  • Planning and controlling change.
  • Daily supervision of assigned operation.
  • Ensure the proper implementation of company safety programs and policies.
  • Ensure Supervisors are addressing training needs and managing adequate assignment of duties.
  • Assist HR in recruitment and employee assessments.
  • Ensure client satisfaction remains high through regular direct interface.
  • Ensure employees and supervision are operating safely and efficiently while following health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure assigned sites are operating effectively with respect to time entry and equipment and manpower invoicing.
  • Ensure supervision implements and follows policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring fleet is in good condition and sites have adequate equipment related to the work.
  • Review and address concerns with fleet utilization
  • Manage safety and quality assurance programs.
  • Identify new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency
  • Understand financial requirements and managing the business unit financial position.
  • Plan and execute field level assessments of compliance to all policies and procedures.
  • Participate and lead contract development as directed.
  • Create and manage budgets for site operations.
  • Increase revenue.
  • Evaluate performance and productivity of Supervision.
  • Analyze accounting and financial data.
  • Employ means to control company costs.
  • Generate reports for the executive team.
  • Conduct research to identify specific staff training needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and requirements.
  • Lead by example by following all BME rules, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Promoting a safe work environment through implementation and creation of safe work procedures with HSE team.
  • Conduct general and site inspections.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Maintain company vehicle as required – fuel, oil changes etc.
  • Maintain site ID’s for all site accesses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum 3-5 years management experience.
  • Previous experience in transportation, as well as oil and gas industry preferred.
  • Previous experience in planning and budgeting.
  • Formal Leadership Training.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with clean abstract (Class 1 license preferred).
  • NCSO Designation or working towards it.
