Job Description

Railserve is looking for passionate, safety conscious individuals to join our diverse team!SUMMARYWorks with Site Leader to perform and coordinate activities of workers engaged in transloading operations, which may also include rail car switching, track maintenance, rail car repair, rail car washing and loading service, and in-plant trucking.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains a safe working environment by making sure all employees understand and follow all safety rules.
  • Train employees on procedures, rules and operations.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and motivates a high level of morale among employees.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the customer by providing a high level of service and by meeting goals set by the customer and Railserve.
  • Manage the operation ensuring that all aspects of the contract are met.
  • Participate in safety programs, safety meetings, safety committee, and completing self –development courses and attend training sessions when required.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of operating procedures, safety rules, locomotive operations, and switching operations.
  • Assist the Site Leader to ensure payroll, fuel costs, locomotive costs, and other costs are managed effectively. Properly maintains the Purchase Order system. Develops and follows preventive maintenance program for all equipment with the assistance of the mechanical department.
  • Assist the Site Leader with set up of work schedules so that each crew has the right mix of experience with the right people working in the right positions.
  • Assist the Site Leader with administrative duties including time keeping, hourly evaluation forms, filing reports required by the customer and the company (e.g. car counts, on time spots, month end reports, supervisory investigation reports, accident derailment reports).
  • Understand and abide by applicable government regulations, (i.e TDG, WHMIS)
  • Assist with making process changes to ensure quality control of end products that are within accepted standards, participate as a team member to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the facility
  • Surveillance of equipment such as heat exchangers, reboilers, fractionation towers, furnaces, compressors, pumps, treaters, generators, filters etc.
  • Operating process and steam units including process equipment, exchangers, compressors, pumps, treaters and utilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESAssists Site Leader with supervision employees (average is approximately 12; the largest sites have up to 60 employees). Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High School Diploma required.
  • Mainline managerial experience.
  • Rail operations experience and Military experience helpful.
  • Production Field/Gas Process Operations certificate is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of pipeline gathering systems, facility operations including oil batteries, compressor stations, dehydration and refrigeration.
  • Experience in production monitoring systems (i.e SCADA), SOLIS training and/or equivalent programs preferred.
  • Crew Lead experience is required for internal applicants.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
