Job Description

Kelly Engineering has an exciting long-term opportunity available for an Intermediate Civil / Structural Designer for the AB Ops Technical Support group in Fort Saskatchewan, AB! This role will work within the site executed project group to scope and design small and intermediate sized projects. Key Responsibilities: Participate in scope definition of project civil/structural projects.Lead civil / structural design for small and intermediate sized projects with little or no direction.Potentially act as Civil / Structural Lead for large projects with direction.Produce detailed engineering drawings and contract specifications for project construction packages.Maintenance of plant documentation.Participate in site safety programs.Follow existing operating disciplines, work practices, EMETLs, drafting standards.Assume active role in Civil Discipline Work Group activities.Perform procurement activities, including obtaining bids, placing orders, and expediting quality deliverables.Quality checker for project documents.Provide input to cost estimators including hours and material take-offs.Involved in project scheduling workload forecasting for Civil Discipline Work Group.Familiar with construction methodologies, with the ability to suggest the most practical solutions to construction-related issues.Experienced in a multidisciplinary environment, ensuring complete input from other disciplines/vendors while collaborating with the overseas value engineering center. Key Qualifications: 10+ years in detailed civil / structural engineering design. Basic knowledge about Canadian steel/foundation codes and Building codes.Preferred to have experience in petro-chemical plants or oil and gas industry, with retrofit design experience.Strong computer background including experience with MicroStation, Smart plant 3d, Model review software for clash checks or equivalent, conversant with Microsoft Office products including BlueBeam, Excel, Outlook and Word.Strong communication skills, confident interacting with key contacts in verbal, written and electronic form.Has demonstrated technical knowledge, problem-solving ability and can provide plant support and detailed design on projects.Self-motivated, organized, and able to work in a deadline-driven environment.Registration with APEGA an asset but not required. Schedule: 9x80 shift every 2nd Friday off or 5x8 Hour Shifts Monday to Friday. Minimal OT may be required. Some Travel to facility in Prentiss, AB will be required no overnight. Position is in office.
