We believe our employees should feel comfortable bringing their whole self to work where everyone is welcomed as they are.Position SummaryLogistics Coordinator is accountable to organize, expedite and report the international and domestic shipments of Sherritt’s input materials and finished products, including legal and customs formalities in all jurisdictions where the company operates.Accountabilities

  • Organize and manage bookings for shipments to and from Sherritt’s Fort Saskatchewan facility and other overseas distribution warehouses via truck, rail and sea.
  • Audit invoices from all service providers for transportation and storage of inbound and outbound cargo.
  • Identify alternative solutions when faced with changes and challenges in shipping and transportation requirements.
  • Maintain the accurate data required to forecast for upcoming transportation requirements to provide a timely and cost effective transportation service.
  • Ensure that shipments do not transit via United States seaports, rail terminals or airports due to the United States embargo.
  • Complete Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED) for all finished products and by-products.
  • Meet the requirement for ad hoc information in order to sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders; including Moa JV partners, suppliers of goods & services, other commercial entities, government agencies, and customers.
  • Manage courier waybills for the export of original bills of lading documents/certificates of origin to end customers.
  • Maintain and update Logistics KPI reports on a weekly basis
  • Identify and recommend improvements to procedures to optimize the Metals Logistics Department’s performance by following good or best practices, improving key performance indicators for the department.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with international shipping/logistics or related.
  • Post-Secondary diploma in Logistics Management or similar discipline, or at least 5 years in lieu.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Canadian import and export regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of Transportation Regulations such as IATA, WHMIS, IMO and IMDG.
  • Working knowledge of management information systems.
  • Must be knowledgeable in all forms of international transportation documentation.
  • Customer service oriented communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, able to multi-task and prioritize based on urgency.
  • Organization skills, with an ability to stay focused on assigned tasks.
