Sherritt’s common shares are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “S”.Job SummaryReporting to the Manager, Turnarounds, the Lead, Turnarounds will define, deliver, and continually improve turnaround (TA) event preparation and execution to maximize safety, asset availability, as well as asset reliability at an optimal costThe position will be based out of our Fort Saskatchewan plant site.Accountabilities

  • Define, integrate, and coordinate all planned and unplanned TA work with on-site and contract personnel for assigned events.
  • Document, challenge, and ensure all scope elements are fully defined, optimized, justified, and approvals from relevant stakeholders have been obtained.
  • Define, measure, document and report all key milestones and deliverables to drive successful TAs.
  • Initiate, hold, and document progress meetings, including relevant metrics/KPIs, schedules, and gaps.
  • Create, manage, update, and report on outage readiness on an ongoing basis.
  • Identify, mitigate, and escalate issues and concerns impacting TAs, resolving where possible.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary discussions to deliver strategies or solutions to identified event concerns.
  • Chair daily progress meetings and actively audit jobs including field walks during events.
  • Initiate and chair all lessons learned meetings to ensure items are captured, documented, and actioned and events are continuously improved.
  • Champion overall safety performance for TA events.
  • Ensure timely closure of all post event actions including invoices, approvals, returns, and close-out reports.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A degree in an Engineering discipline or journeyman trade certificate.
  • 10-15 years’ experience in turnaround management, maintenance execution and/or operations.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing technical disciplines (engineering, millwright, instrumentation, electrical).
  • Previous work experience in refinery or industrial facility preferred.
  • Working knowledge of EAM, Primavera, MS Office Suite and SharePoint will be considered an asset.
  • Innovative and are willing to challenge the biases when problem solving
  • Collaborative, inclusive, and work well with others towards team goals.
  • Leadership skills and management experience with key turnaround roles which include project management, turnaround planning, scheduling, field coordination, and project controls leading large turnaround teams.
