We offer a work environment where team members are truly valued, and have what they need to thrive in their role and make a meaningful impact.Position SummaryAn exciting opportunity exists in our Metals Division in Fort Saskatchewan for a Coordinator, Logistics. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Coordinator, Logistics position is accountable to organize, expedite and report the international and domestic shipments of Sherritt’s input materials and products, including legal and customs formalities in all jurisdictions where the company operates.The position will be for approx. 18 months and based out of our Fort Saskatchewan plant site.Accountabilities

  • Identify alternative solutions and execute when faced with changes and challenges in shipping and transport requirements.
  • Coordinate import and export trucking and ocean freight shipments to and from overseas distribution warehouses.
  • Audit freight invoices for export ocean freight, intermodal rail outbound, freight forwarders, overseas distribution warehouses, airfreight invoices, trucking invoices, and courier invoices.
  • Ensure that shipments do not transit via United States seaports, rail terminals or airports due to the United States embargo.
  • Maintain the accurate data required to forecast for upcoming transportation requirements to provide a timely and cost-effective transportation service.
  • Complete Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED) for all finished products and by-products.
  • Obtain Steamship line bookings according to Marketing contracts.
  • Meet the requirement for ad hoc information in order to sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders; including Moa JV partners, suppliers of goodsamp; services, other commercial entities, government agencies, and customers.
  • Produce daily reports and escalate issues or trends of concern.
  • Provide accurate and updated information to internal stakeholders and external customers regarding the status of import and export shipments.
  • Upload and maintain vessel schedules on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage courier waybills for the export of original bills of lading documents/certificates of origin to end customers.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to procedures to optimize the Metals Logistics Department’s performance by following good or best practices, improving key performance indicators for the department.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Post-Secondary diploma in Logistics Management or similar discipline, or at least 5 years in lieu
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of international transportation and/or international freight forwarding.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Canadian import and export regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of Transportation Regulations such as IATA, WHMIS, IMO, and IMDG
  • Working knowledge of management information systems.
  • Must be knowledgeable in all forms of international transportation documentation.
  • Written and verbal communications skills.
  • Advanced computer skills related to Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent report writingamp; time management skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize
