Job Description

Your Opportunity:In 2020, the community of Fort Vermilion and those living in surrounding areas, were greatly impacted by a devastating flood. To aid in the community recovery phase, a rewarding and unique position awaits the right candidate to provide support as an Addictions Counselor III. Based out of the Fort Vermilion Community Health Centre, the Addiction Counselor will engage the community, work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and participate in mental health promotion events. This position is currently for one year, with a strong possibility of extension. Northern Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.Description:As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:Completion of a bachelors degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelors degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities.Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to work alone.Preferred Qualifications:Position is currently for one year, with a strong possibility of extension.Quick Apply
