INTROGentilly-1 Waste Facility, herein after referenced to as the Facility, is operated according to a decommissioning licence and associated Licence Condition Handbook. The Facility is currently in a Storage with Surveillance (SWS) phase, and transitioning to full decommissioning pending regulatory approvals. The Facility is located in Bécancour, Québec, on the Hydro-Québec Gentilly site.The purpose of this position is primarily to perform work to ensure compliance with the Storage with Surveillance plan and associated procedures.DUTIESThe Maintainer position reports to the G-1 & DP Operations Manager and is accountable to the Gentilly-1 Facility Manager.Responsibilities include:

• Participates actively in the Plan of the Day meeting.
• Performs storage with surveillance activities as schedules; SWS activities vary widely.
• Performs housekeeping activities (collect, sort and dispose of waste).
• Participates in housekeeping inspections.
• Operates forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Operates process equipment (turns fans on and off, turns pumps on and off).
• Sponsors and monitors work performed by contractors.
• Participates in updating facility-specific procedures, and brings to management’s attention any issues with them.
• Performs supply inventory.
• Provides vacation coverage for others in the Facility for tasks the Maintainer is qualified for.
• Observes and obeys all radiation protection notices, zoning, and warning signs.
• Performs minor maintenance to equipment to support SWS.
• Stops work when deemed necessary.
• Performs other tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum requirement of a high school diploma with two to four years’ experience in the nuclear field or equivalent.
• General knowledge of various trades.
• Able to work under minimum supervision.
• Computer knowledge essential (EXCEL®, WORD®)
• Good physical condition and vigilant.
• Able to work under various weather conditions.
• Experience in forklift and crane operation.
• Be an advocate for safe work practices.
