DescriptionWork Term Duration: 4 month work termJob Summary: Pioneer Hi-Bred Production Company, a division of Corteva Agriscience, is seeking hard working, motivated, and independent co-op students for the position of Research Assistant Analytical Biochemistry located in Caledon, Ontario. The position of Research Analytical Biochemistry will present students with a variety of tasks and opportunities such as: Canola has strict requirements and regulations in regards to seed and oil composition. This position will be involved in the analytical compositional analysis of canola varieties developed within the canola research program. Using NIR (Near-Infrared Reflectance spectroscopy), pulsed NMR and other methods and oil composition using gas chromatography the applicant will achieve these goals.Job Responsibilities: The student will assist with the determination of seed quality traits using NIR (Near-Infrared Reflectance spectroscopy), pulsed NMR and other methods and oil composition using gas chromatography.Good attention to detail is required.Required Skills: The student will possess the ability to work under minimal supervision after an initial training period to achieve the research goals in a team environment.Transportation and Housing: Student is responsible for finding their own housing. Applicants should have access to a vehicle as there is no public transportation to our facility. The research centre is located 20 minutes from Brampton, 25 minutes from Mississauga and 45 minutes from Guelph and Toronto. The facility is located on the corners of Mayfield and Mississauga Roads.
