The NEC is an agency of the Government of Ontario tasked with protecting almost 200,000 hectares of the Niagara Escarpment, from Queenstown in Niagara to Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula.   • Coordinate and participate in projects related to evaluation of the NECs GIS and IM&IT needs;
  • Provide support and expertise to staff and integrated teams by undertaking database analysis, application enhancements, generating reports and products with analytics, and conducting geospatial analysis;
  • Provide technical expertise, develop user guides and provide training for staff related to GIS, information management and use of databases;
  • Interact with NEC staff, Lands and Resources Cluster, other ministries, partners and clients to advance the NECs program through GIS, as well as IM⁢
  • Support organizational effectiveness initiatives through business process mapping, development and monitoring of performance measures, and by using GIS and databases to provide relevant information and analytics;
  • Maintain and provide support related to the NECs website.
How do I qualifyTechnical skills:
  • You have experience with computer systems, geomatics software, as well as scripting and programming languages for conducting intermediate GIS analysis, as well as to conduct modelling and simulation of geospatial information.
  • You have software application skills to develop presentations that effectively disseminate information, as well as prepare and edit cartographic products that meet high standards of graphic design and organizational standards.
  • You have the proven ability to effectively manipulate spatial data for the purposes of data creation, integration, improvement and analysis or for use in more sophisticated applications of GIS.
  • You have the proven ability to set up and operate computer hardware, GIS peripherals, a range of software applications, conduct web site maintenance and undertake programming to support GIS and database applications.
Analytical and Problem Solving skills:
  • You have demonstrated research, evaluating and problem solving skills to troubleshoot technical and process problems and develop complex methodologies, and to evaluate alternatives approaches to support organizational projects and program implementation.
  • You have the proven ability to provide data analysis and data management that is responsive to project /client needs.
  • You have the ability to acquire, interpret and apply knowledge of policies, programs and initiatives related to information management and accessibility.
Communication and Teamwork skills:
  • You have effective teamwork skills to participate in multi-disciplinary, collaborative working groups.
  • You have experience communicating technical issues and solutions to a variety of partners and clients using clear language to convey information in a manner that is easily understood.
  • You take a proactive approach to communication to ensure full understanding of project requirements, to implement projects and communicate progress, as well as to make presentations, prepare reports, provide training, contribute to business case development, and engage partners and clients.
Organizational skills:
  • You have demonstrated project management and coordinating skills to lead, plan, monitor and deliver a range of integrated projects and deliverables, with multiple clients, partners and changing priorities
