Position: LINC/ESL InstructorSalary: $42.31 per hour (plus vacation 4% vacation pay)Program Locations: 1. 215 Ontario Street South, Milton, ON L9T 4N5 2. 96 Guelph St, Georgetown, ON L7G 3Z5 3. 3250 New St, Burlington, ON L7N 1M8 4. 240 Wyecroft Rd, Oakville, ON L6K 3Y6Start Date: As soon as possible to June 24, 2023Assignment: Monday to Friday from 9 A.M. until 12 P.M. (in-person classes; primarily for our Milton and Georgetown locations)Position Summary:The Gary Allan Learning Centre is hiring non-credit Adult LINC/ESL Instructors to teach a variety of English as a Second Language courses, using the CLB standards and framework, including IELTS preparation, Business English and a variety of specialized language training courses (SLT courses). Successful applicants will be hired to the supply instructor pool. When class enrollments support adding an additional class or classes, teaching assignments will be offered to those in the supply instructor pool.Qualifications:

• OCELT designation (https://www.teslontario.org/ocelt-professional-designation)
• Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, in the adult second language learning environment.
• Conducts classes in a respectful and engaging manner, which fosters self-directed learning leading to the achievement of personal goals.
• Ability to develop courses and design units and lessons in a culturally diverse and respectful learning environment, tailored to client’s learning needs using principles articulated as per the CLB Curriculum Guidelines for the Adult Non-Credit Language Training Program.
• Excellent knowledge of the National Language Placement and Progression Guidelines (NLPPG); Incumbent must complete a self-directed PBLA (Portfolio Based Language Assessment) training within the first 6 months of employment.
• Experience assessing learners’ language gains and progress according to the Canadian Language Benchmarks using Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) protocols.
• Prepare learners’ conference summary and progress reports. Conducting one-on-one interviews with learners to provide feedback on learning progress (PBLA certification required).
• Experience teaching virtually (in addition to teaching in a face-to-face setting)
• Experience developing and delivering sector specific SLTs, an asset.
• Ability to apply the tenets of the Principles and Components of Program Planning, the main accompanying document to the Curriculum Guidelines.
• Excellent English communication skills (written/oral) ; Strong interpersonal skills.
