  • This position is responsible for the supervision of all plant operations and personnel in order to produce quality dairy products in an efficient, safe and cost-effective manner.
How you will make contributions that matter:
  • Provides leadership, direction, guidance and support to production personnel and production supervisors. Develop positive, motivating and efficient communication with all employees;
  • Provides supervision, evaluation, motivation and training of personnel to ensure work is completed efficiently, effectively and safely;
  • Maintain, adhere to and administer company policies and procedures in the areas of Quality Assurance, Food Safety and Quality Control;
  • Ensures the efficient and effective use of the workforce, equipment and material resources;
  • Ensure the manufacturing and packaging of a quality product while maintaining a safe and motivated workforce;
  • Monitors the scheduling of equipment and personnel to ensure production requirements are met on a timely basis;
  • Ensures that safe conditions always exist within the work environment; will take appropriate action to protect the health and safety of employees;
  • Support the plant’s safety process to insure a behavioral-based safe, hazard-free working environment for all employees. Take an active leadership role in the plant’s Safety Teams;
  • Effectively uses daily production information to track costs, measure trends, and communicate results, positively reinforce success and initiate corrective action when appropriate;
  • Troubleshoot and lead problem-solving efforts through the facilitation of effective functional and cross-functional teams and on-the-floor leadership to effectively change systems and procedures through the process of continuous improvement;
  • Ensures the Company’s quality and sanitation standards are met through close liaison with Quality Services, full participating in the HACCP and BRC programs, as well as frequent review and implementation of Company and Government Policies;
  • Administers environmental policies and ensures regulations are followed;
  • Administers the Collective Agreement and maintains effective internal and external working relationships;
  • Supports and maintains Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P.’s quality standards;
  • Other duties as required.
You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Food Science, Microbiology) or equivalent related experience;
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in food manufacturing or processing; preferably dairy manufacturing;
  • Thorough knowledge of dairy operations with emphasis on packaging and sanitation;
  • Experience in successful leading, coaching, motivating and developing a team in a “hands on” environment;
  • Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills, superior communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented, possess high degree of initiative, and works well under pressure;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, etc.
