Job Description

Employment OpportunitySheridan Nurseries Distribution is actively searching for a:Shipper / Lead HandSeasonal Contract, Full TimeAbout the Job:Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Distribution, the Shipper/Lead Hand is responsible for the preparation and shipment of nursery stock to our Garden Centres and external guests. Located at our facility in Georgetown, this is a seasonal, full-time position and requires the candidate to be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy.Your Accountabilities:

  • Overseeing a crew of 3 to 6 people
  • Assembling and preparing orders for shipment
  • Loading and unloading of trucks
  • Handling of paperwork in the shipping process
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety best practices, hazard reporting, and leading by example.
  • Assist with other crews when required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive team environment
  • Highly adaptable with great attention to detail
  • Ability to work within deadlines and effectively communicate with staff and management
  • Adaptable and willing to learn
  • Previous experience working in a shipping role is an asset
  • Punctual and dependable, and highly valuing honesty, integrity, and authenticity
  • Availability to work full-time from Monday-Friday, with some Saturday shifts required during our peak season
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
