Job Description

Greenstone Gold Mines L.P. is a 60/40 joint venture partnership between Equinox Gold and Orion Mine Finance Group formed for the purpose of the joint ownership and development of the Greenstone Gold Property including the Greenstone Mine located on a historical mine site in the Geraldton-Beardmore Greenstone belt in Ontario. The Greenstone Mine is managed directly by a dynamic and experienced Owner #39;s team, with an estimated $1.5 Billion investment over the three-year construction and commissioning phase, and a 14-year operating life of mine.Greenstone Mine is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer will develop and lead the geotechnical department of the Greenstone open-pit mine.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Lead internal expertise in establishing and reviewing mine design criteria (pit geometry, slopes, bench height, geometry) in relation to geotechnics.
  • Develop the pit ground control monitoring program.
  • Provide technical support to operations in relation to geotechnical issues, opportunities and risks pertaining to slope stability.
  • Summarizing and analyzing finding from reconnaissance/inspections, investigations and lab testing
  • Analyzing and modelling slope stability, settlement, foundation design, soil retaining structures and other geotechnical problems
  • Ensure that any major or abnormal geotechnical event is investigated, documented and communicated.
  • Preparing or assisting with preparing engineering memos, reports, and presentations
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail and possesses analytical skills
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
  • University degree in mining engineering, geology, geological engineering, civil engineering or equivalent.
  • Member of a recognized professional association.
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience at mining sites and/or as a consultant.
  • Advanced experience in mining geotechnics.
  • At least 2 years of experience in open-pit mining.
LOCATION
  • This position will be on a rotation based at the mine site Geraldton, Ontario.
