Sturgeon Public Schools is currently seeking a permanent part-time Library Technician for a work assignment at Landing Trail School. The assignments are subject to change based on operational requirements.Landing Trail School, located in Gibbons, has a student population of approximately 400 students, with approximately 80 students accessing non-denominational Christian faith based (LOGOS) programming. From preschool to grade 4, Landing Trail School offers dynamic and well-rounded programming to support and nurture students’ development to prepare them for a bright future.FTE: 0.6 FTE; 21.25 hrs/week; Library Technician, PermanentThe hourly rate is $19.79 - $24.54 as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.Duties: § Coordinate the daily operations of the library§ Assist staff with research projects§ Provide assistance to teaching staff in finding resources as requested to enhance curriculum requirements§ Maintain a schedule for class access to library, computers and maker spaces§ Provide mentorship to students to encourage and increase student interest in books and literacy§ Assist students and teachers with minor technology requests such as log-ins, research etc§ Model appropriate behaviour in learning common areas§ Provide supervised alternative space for students at break times or as required§ Train and supervise parent volunteers, work experience students, practicum students and student helpers§ Administer the budget, coordinate the ordering, receiving, tracking and inventory of purchases for the library§ Daily operational decisions with regards to requests to purchases within established budget parameters§ Classify and catalogue information and materials according to standardized procedures§ Discretionary decisions on account management§ Facilitate the use of technological equipment§ May include maintenance of textbook depository§ Periodical communication with parent/guardian, community, vendors, Central Office staff and other library staffEducational/Professional Requirements:
