Apply today to join our team!As a Tobacco Reduction Coordinator you will:Lead the Tobacco Reduction Strategy for a geographic portion of VCH. This may include the entire health authority for some initiatives and includes all health care sectors - Public Health, Acute Care, Community Care, Residential Care, and Mental Health/Addictions.Oversee tobacco and vapour product reduction in the areas of prevention, protection and cessation.Determine the need for programs, and plan, implement, and evaluate these programs.Ensure the programs are directed towards health promotion and acute/chronic disease prevention for the general population as well as high risk groups.Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to address behavioural risk factors (tobacco and vapour product use) that cause chronic disease and further a population health approach to promoting health and reducing the burden of chronic disease.ABOUT SECHELT, BCThe District Municipality of Sechelt is located on the lower Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, approximately 50 km northwest of Vancouver. It is accessible from the mainland by a 40-minute ferry trip between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale, followed by a 25-minute drive along Highway 101, also known as the Sunshine Coast Highway. That is what Sechelt has to offer you!QUALIFICATIONS:Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in a health-related, social sciences, education, management or equivalent field.Minimum of 3 years work experience in tobacco dependence treatment, health promotion, population health, community development, community capacity building and evaluation, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage reimbursement is paid and a valid B.C. Driver’s license.Criminal Records review required.Knowledge & AbilitiesConsiderable understanding and skills in applying the principles of health promotion, community development, population health, adult education, and the social determinants of health.Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to facilitate change and professional development with staff.Understanding of tobacco and vapour product use and related health issues an asset.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Proven ability to work independently and to develop/maintain collaborative working relationships within a multi-disciplinary service delivery model.Demonstrated knowledge and ability in facilitation, mediation, conflict resolution techniques, and problem solving skills.Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodology and/or project planning.Demonstrated organizational ability to independently manage/prioritize a workload in an environment subject to changing deadlines and interruptions.Demonstrated abilities in the area of clinical practice, including education, public speaking, advocacy, research, consultation evaluation, and surveillance.Proven ability in dealing with a wide variety of situations and responsibilities requiring initiative and professional judgement.Ability to deal tactfully/effectively with co-workers, public and staff from other agencies.Demonstrated ability to operate current computer programs.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
