The current remuneration arrangement is a competitive daily rate as per the provincial hospitalist agreement with an on-call stipend plus fee-for-service billings for afterhours coverage. If you are interested in a broader scope of practice that includes but is not limited to hospitalist work, there are many possible opportunities in Glace Bay and surrounding communities.The Glace Bay facility houses 44 medical beds with an onsite emergency room. There is support from respiratory, physio and occupational therapy, dietary support and social work. An on-site general internist is available for consultations.Glace Bay Hospital is one of the community hospitals that operate as part of a four hospital complex that includes New Waterford Consolidated, Northside General and the Cape Breton Regional hospitals. As a community hospital, it serves Glace Bay and the surrounding communities. The Glace Bay hospital is a quaint facility that sits on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, offering a beautiful view for the patients and staff.ResponsibilitiesDuties include full scope of practice as a hospitalist providing care to patients within the Eastern Zone and participating in callthe physician will be responsible to the Zone Department Head of Family Practice for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice, and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.Expected HoursDaytime coverage is 8 am to 5 pm for the two daytime hospitalists, with one physician covering after 5:00 pm from home.Qualificationseligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)Community DetailsGlace Bay is a community within the Cape Breton Reginal Municipality.
