AMGH is the largest provider of acute care hospital services in Huron County. AMGH offers a range of services including 24 hour emergency, intensive care, obstetrics, general surgery, inpatient adult psychiatry and multi site community mental health. The organization hosts a comprehensive range of specialty and regional healthcare services such as a renal dialysis satellite and telestroke site.AMGH is seeking a Temporary Part-time Transcriptionist/Heath Records Clerk to join our team.Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved Medical Dictatypist or Medical Secretarial program of a community college
Required Skills:
  • Minimum of two years’ recent experience (within the last 3 years) of medical dictatyping in a Health Records department
  • Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and pharmacology
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of computers and use of software
Abilities:
  • Ability to assess requests and prioritize them
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Ability to prepare correspondence and reports; as well as, sort, review and file various documents
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Demonstrate initiative and good judgment in problem solving and identifying opportunities for action
  • Excellent understanding of Medical Terminology and Pharmaceutical terms
  • Excellent verbal, written, telephone and computer skills
  • Excellent demonstrated grammar skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Demonstrated good health and attendance record required
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with patients, physicians, hospital staff and public
  • Professional demeanour
  • Proven organizational, analytical service orientation
  • Respond to telephone inquiries in the Medical Transcription area
  • Transcribe (100 minutes of dictation per day)
