AIM is a single source solution resource organization, partnering with world class leaders across local, national, and international markets to provide solutions for many of today’s environmental challenges.AIM HCR Inc. is one of our 4 composting facilities across Canada and provides the latest technology to meet the waste management challenges of Halifax, NS.AIM HCR Inc. has recently been awarded a 25- year contract with the City of Halifax to manage it’s organic waste feedstocks. We are in the interim of design, build and operate of a 60,000 metric tonne facility adjacent to the ongoing operations already in place in Goodwood, NS.What We Are Looking For: · Do you enjoy working independently as well as with a team· Are you self-motivated, enjoy being proactive and taking the initiative· Do you enjoy being adaptable and dedicated to learning new thingsIf any of the above resonates with you, then please keep reading!Responsibilities: We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Halifax team. The successful candidate will be responsible for and not limited to:

  • Perform cleaning duties related to plant equipment and general housekeeping, snow clearing.
  • Report system problems immediately to management
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment while complying with company safety policies
  • Ensuring that all AIM health and safety policies, programs and standard operating procedures are practiced and followed.
  • Meeting the facility’s production targets and performance expectations.
  • Assists with other maintenance duties around the facility.
  • Recording and reporting operating data and other information as required.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physical requirements including standing, sitting, bending etc.

Key Performance Indicators: The duties of this position cover a wide variety of mobile equipment operation activities throughout the compost facility, including operations related to material receiving, vessel stage composting, curing building operations and screening plant operations. The position involves operating loaders, dumptruck and approximately 70% Roll off truck operations and includes, but is not limited to:
  • Ensuring that all AIM health and safety policies, programs and standard operating procedures are followed at all times.
  • Safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment in tight quarters (loader, roll off truck, dump truck).
  • Meeting the facility’s production targets and performance expectations.
  • Completion of daily mobile equipment inspections and routine operating maintenance tasks.
  • Transporting compost in vessel containers for unloading and reloading of feedstock.
  • Moving/advancing compost materials in the curing building.
  • Operating compost material screening plant and loading of dump trucks.
  • Maintaining, shaping and relocating stockpiles.
  • Attend monthly H&S meetings and participate in equipment inspections.
  • Attend all training programs as required.
  • Recording and reporting operating data and other information as required.
  • Assists with other maintenance duties around the facility.
  • General site labour duties including cleaning, organizing, housekeeping and snow clearing.
