PCL is an innovative organization that focuses on the future of our employees as much as the future of construction.Heres how a(n) Administrative Assistant for our PCL Industrial Management Inc. district, on a project located outside of Grande Cache, AB, contributes to our team:Responsibilities

  • Supports the project team by preparing for daily events and follow-up actions (e.g. scheduling and coordinating meetings, maintaining action lists and reminders, meeting preparation, and taking and distributing meeting minutes).
  • Develops and maintains a well-organized filing system that permits easy reference and rapid information retrieval.
  • Answers telephone calls and takes messages for managers, departments, or team members.
  • Provides accurate Word, Excel, and PowerPoint support by composing and/or editing various documents.
  • Organizes and enters data related to timekeeping, safety, quality, and turnover in PCL’s applications.
  • Prepares drawing packages and notifications for critical site activities.
  • Organize team-building events on-site and in the local community.
  • Ordering office supplies for the project as required.
  • Distributing mail, arranging couriers, and coordinating deliveries as required.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Postsecondary degree or diploma or certificate in office administration program is considered an asset.
  • 1-3 years of experience in an administrative role or equivalent technical experience; previous experience in the construction industry is considered an asset.
  • Ability to create a positive work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Self-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks with conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to anticipate and adapt to various work styles.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to act with discretion when handling confidential and privileged information.
  • Professional attitude, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe.
Working Conditions
  • Preference will be given to candidates who live in the Grande Cache area.
  • The successful applicant must be able to provide their own CSA approved steel toed boots and be willing to take and pass a Pre-Access Alcohol & Drug Test.
  • Shift rotation for this position will be a 10 day on, 4 day off schedule. 10-hour workdays.
  • Hourly contract starting immediately. Approximately 6-month duration.
  • Mostly office work, with a willingness to interact with outdoor construction activities and personnel.
