Job Description

a division of Dunkley Lumber Ltd. is seeking ahighly motivated and energetic individual to join our team as aWoodlands Operations SuperintendentFoothills Forest Products is a two-line softwood-lumber sawmill and planer facility that is currently undergoingoptimization. Our facility is located 20 km south of the beautiful mountain community of Grande Cache, Alberta. Weproduce high quality lumber products that are sold across North America and in overseas markets. Please visit ourwebsite at www.dunkleylumber.com to find out more about us.We currently have an opening for a Woodlands Operations Superintendent.This is a permanent, full time position reporting to the Woodlands Manager. The individual will assist insupervising all logging, hauling, and road construction contractors across multiple dispositions.The primary functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring staff and contractors are working in a manner that eliminates environmental and safety
incidents.
  • Ensure roads and watercourse crossings are maintained and repaired as required to allow safe
passage for all road users.
  • Ensure harvest approvals and log deliveries are in line with production forecast for piece size,
trucking distance, and harvest season.
  • Ensure all silviculture activities comply with government requirements.
  • Ensure log quality standards are in line with sawmill needs.
  • Work with the Woodlands Manager on budget items.
  • Providing direction and training to staff and contractors.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • AAFMP registered or eligibility as an RPF/RPFT.
  • 5+ years of relevant forestry experience
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Possess a valid Class 5 drivers license and standard first aid.
  • Knowledge of harvesting phases and costing.
  • The ability to work alone safely outdoors and in inclement weather.
