Job Description

Your Opportunity: Alberta Health Services (AHS) has an exciting opportunity to work in a very active, frontline professional position within Nutrition Services in beautiful, scenic Northern Alberta. The Grande Prairie Outpatient Dietitian I will conduct assessments of clients’ nutritional status and requirements, develop nutritional care plans, and provide nutrition education and counselling. You will play a vital role in helping Albertans achieve optimal nutritional health. Working with individuals, families, groups, and organizations, you will provide nutrition knowledge and expertise to help patients enjoy good health, prevent and manage nutrition-related diseases, and recover from diseases and surgery. Utilizing nutrition care processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision making, you teach and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. Effective communication skills are necessary as you will be required to clearly convey information to clients individually and in group settings and communicate with other health professionals in team environments. Description: As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA). Additional Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will demonstrate a Patient First philosophy; be able to support both adult and pediatric patients; and have excellent time management and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in outpatient/ambulatory care settings preferred.
