Job Description

Position FULL TIME FOOD STORE CLERK IDepartment GRAVELBOURG FOOD STORELocation GRAVELBOURG FOOD STOREResponsibilities

  • Provide customer service to customers, by assisting customers, and providing information and product knowledge, which is maintained through being dependable for all shifts, handling customer complaints and providing warranty service in a professional manner, as per Southland Co-op policies and procedures.
  • To have an effective understanding of the point of sale system and maintain a check out speed of 35 items per minute.
  • Provide packaging of customer purchases, and carry out service of purchases in an efficient, professional manner, and operation of Point of Sale System.
  • To stock and order merchandise as per Southland Co-op policies and procedures.
  • To perform housekeeping duties, including but not limited to cleaning and facing shelves.
  • To ensure proper meat preparation is achieved and maintained, such as traying, wrapping and pricing to meat department standards.
  • To ensure that the fresh case, frozen case, smoked case and all spot island merchandisers are filled and merchandised to meat department standards.
  • To assist in the preparation of in-store made products such as sausage and hamburger.
  • To perform receiving, counting and sorting of merchandise duties as directed.
  • To assist with taking inventories in the store including, but not limited to tobacco, liquor and general grocery.
  • To perform opening and closing procedures.
  • To operate and maintain equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • To adhere to all Southland Co-op policies and procedures related to the maintenance, loss prevention, sanitation, security and safety of all association assets.
  • To efficiently and accurately maintain cash balances, daily cash reconciliations and point of sale balancing.
Requirements
  • Experience in procurement of merchandise.
  • Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, outgoing and energetic personality.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a desire and ability to work with the public.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Physically able to do heavy lifting, climbing, kneeling.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to further knowledge through training.
