Job Description

Area of Assignment: Convalescent Care UnitBasic Function and Scope: As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) works under the direction of the Nursing Unit Coordinator or Nursing Manager and in conjunction with the RN/RPN, performing assigned functions that support the team in the delivery of patient care.Hours of Work: Rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, and weekends), as required.Pay Rate: Will be in accordance with the S.E.I.U. Local 1, Canada Service Workers Collective Agreement for Personal Support Worker Classification.Qualifications: Education:

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma;
  • Personal Support Worker Certificate from a recognized College;
  • B.C.L.S. Current Certificate.
Experience:
  • Experience working with resident/patients with complex physical needs.
Required Skills:
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education;
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude;
  • Ability to function in crisis situations;
  • Demonstrated awareness of patient centered care with the ability to work in a team environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully;
  • Maintains friendly, caring and responsive attitude toward patient care;
  • Must have annual review education completed;
  • Must have previous proven good performance and attendance record.
Physical Requirements: The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contractContract length: 6 monthsSalary: $22.93-$24.40 per hourBenefits:
